Motorists Face Fine for Invalid Licence

July 2009

Thousands of motorists are at risk of being fined up to £1,000 because they are unwittingly driving without a valid licence.

Motorists risk prosecution after failing to spot the small print on their photo-card licence which states it automatically expires after 10 years. It has to be renewed even though drivers are licensed to drive until the age of 70. The first batch of photo-card licenses were issued a decade ago in July 1998.

Budget Furthers Government's Green Agenda

April 2009

As with previous budgets, last week’s announcements from the Chancellor showed a continued focus on the environment with promotion of the ‘green’ car very much at the fore.

As expected, the Government announced the much anticipated scrappage scheme in order to encourage drivers out of old and into new, lower emitting vehicles. From mid-May 2009, drivers will receive a £2,000 discount on cars and vans when trading in vehicles at least ten years old.
